One could argue that since the very construction of the United States of America, Christian preaching has been held captive by political ideology and the structures and systems of the world. This type of bondage has lead to Christian preachers and leaders sounding more like conservative and liberal politicians than prophets, pastors, evangelists, and apostles rooted in Scripture.
Beyond question, God has done much through TUMI this year – things which have helped us fulfill our World Impact focus areas and initiatives.
2015 year in review for the Midwest Region – supporting potential urban pastors, growing urban leadership, resourcing leaders in prisons and through conferences, and helping legal aid clients with dignity and respect.
It is incredible to watch God’s deep love awaken hearts to His rescue. We were invited into a mentoring role by a precious couple with three little ones. We have known Jules for 20 years, and we are getting to know Jas. Abuse, growing up too fast, surrounded by substance abuse as kids, and experimenting as adults are some areas we have covered over the months.
The book of Lamentations might not be on the top of your reading list, but its lessons need to be heeded. The essence of the book can be found in Lamentations 1:16: “No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit.” Lament is a part of our faith journey – you would be hard pressed to find a major biblical character who did not go through it.
