An Empowered Leader

I was given the opportunity to lead the Siafu Men’s Retreat this year with a team of amazing urban men from various walks of life. These men and I met monthly starting in January and formulated a plan for the retreat. It was no small feat but with the help of some World Impact leaders we were empowered to put this year’s retreat together. I could see just what it takes to be a leader and get everything organized.

The first few years I attended the retreat just as any other person. Every year the retreat was powerful, motivating, humbling and fulfilling spiritually. I was nervous about leading but I received nothing but support at every turn. World Impact has truly taken the concept of empowering others to a new level. I am honored to have been a part of the retreat this year and I could not have done it without the help of the entire team sitting in my corner pushing forward.

I was concerned that I would not be able to participate in the worship, listen to the lessons or be a part of the general fellowship. However, I found that although I was limited in some respects, watching 130 other men worship our God left me speechless. It was a blessing to see so many men worshiping, being prayed over and praying over others. For the first time since I’ve been attending, three men came to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and were baptized. I’m very thankful to be associated with World Impact and their wonderful missionaries and leaders.

The Men’s Retreat is absolutely something I recommend to everyone I meet. It is incredible to see a bunch of broken, “tough” men turn from warriors on the streets to warriors for God. I’ve been fortunate to witness this for the last few years at these retreats. These men make powerful warriors for Christ.
