Connecting with the Community

Our two primary areas of responsibility with our ministry in Newark are Newark Christian School (NCS) and World Impact Community Church. Sometimes these work together in wonderful ways. On a recent weekend, this was highlighted by our baptism service.

Two families from our school have also been coming to our church. Ari’s daughters have come to our school for nine years. At the service, she stood at the back with one daughter on her left and the other on her right. Her testimony was simple: “If He died for me, I want to live for Him.” Her girls shared stories of different teachers helping them grow at NCS.

The other girls are the three oldest of five girls in their family. The oldest is now in high school and testified how what she learned in her years at NCS helps her now. Their family came in the day before and decorated the church beautifully with hundreds of balloons.

Since both of these families speak Spanish in their home (the parents are from Ecuador and the Dominican Republic), we added some bi-lingual songs to the service. Another Ecuadorian family (with children who attend NCS) that was between churches visited our church because of the baptisms. Their two children went to Sunday school during the sermon time and were taught by a teacher they knew from NCS. Afterward their father called us a family-friendly church and promised to return.

We praise God that our entire ministry ties together well. Please pray for our school year to end well. There is much to do this month. Thank you for your prayers and financial support.
