LACS Memories

It is the end of the school year at Los Angeles Christian Schools (LACS). It certainly has had its ups and downs, but one thing I know for sure, that my Heavenly Father has been faithful! As the years go by, one by one, I never cease to be amazed by the faithfulness of my God.

In the middle of our very late spring break, which was April 14 to April 23 this year, I planned a ministry day with four of my fourth grade girls. These special times give me an opportunity to see my students’ personalities in action. They tromped through ponds and rock beds, at Eaton Canyon, a park and nature center in Pasadena. This was after we had checked out the local museum with stuffed animals, snakes, bugs, a male and female tortoise, and the various rock types we had studied (igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic). They had absolutely the time of their lives!

They were ecstatic! “Oh, Miss Bolcom, look, tadpoles!” said one girl as she held her sample of pond with tadpoles over the head of another girl, so I could see it. All I could imagine was a mom seeing little tadpoles crawling around in her daughter’s hair upon inspection later that evening. We returned to my home, with soaked sneakers, wet clothes, but happy hearts! This was followed by pizza for lunch, walking my three dogs and playing with them. The kids did not want to leave, but alas, back to the city.

World Impact is ministering on a large scale and on a smaller scale, such as my day with these four girls. The amazing thing is, we have no idea of the impact God is making on these children. I have a hunch it’s way bigger than we think!
