TUMI Alumni Conference

We just hosted our first Alumni and Student Conference, the first of its kind in TUMI's history! We brought together students from the past and present to be inspired for the sake of fulfilling the Great Commission. Our theme, Forging Identity: Destroying Strongholds, Forming Christlikeness, challenged the members of our network to obey Paul’s admonition to put off the old man, to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new man (Eph. 4.20-24). We authored two texts for the event (Think Again by Don Allsman, and Get Your Pretense On! by Don Davis) to orient them to demolish strongholds of lies, take their thoughts captive to Christ, and punish disobedience by defending themselves against the enemy’s lying tactics.

Our gathering was remarkable in every way. More than 280 men and women attended, some from Mexico and Ghana. Logistically, it was a feat of giants to pack and freight pallets of extraneous materials from Wichita to The Oaks in California, to coordinate our helpers’ travels, and to run a conference 1500 miles from our headquarters. We took months designing and creating the event’s resources (magazines, books, hats, T-shirts, etc.), alongside videos, workshops, plenaries, and seminars, and an ad hoc praise team which included a worship leader recently from inside his prison fellowship!

God moved in a mighty way at the conference, and the students responded enthusiastically! These disciples are making a difference right where they live—starting new ministries, planting and pastoring churches, and even mentoring new satellite classes. Their enthusiasm convinces us that God is sending a new batch of fierce laborers into the harvest fields for Christ! Please remember these workers in your prayers. The service and sacrifice of our students is so noble and heroic that they demand our most fervent and faithful intercession. Thank you for your financial partnership in the Gospel that enables us to challenge this remarkable group of people to join in and do their part in winning the lost for Christ. Never forget the power of your prayers in shaping the context for what we do and accomplish.
