Imagine you are stepping into one of our World Impact’s retreat sessions. You may be surprised by what you see and hear. If you were picturing a quiet and reserved group of men and women, you’d be mistaken! These urban leaders are loud as they praise the Lord, raising their hands in worship, and free to be who they are with their brothers and sisters. These men and women are soldiers preparing to fight the battle, prisoners set free, brothers and sisters in love with their Father and not afraid to show it.
As World Impact works to equip men and women for the sake of the Gospel, we have found that urban leaders are in need of a time to draw away for support and encouragement. One way we provide this is through our annual retreats in each region. These times of retreat provide rest, prayer and laughter with an emphasis on empowering the men and women who come with strong biblical teaching, encouragement and new relationships.
These retreats are growing, with men’s and women’s retreats now held in each region in both English and Spanish. As the retreats have grown, World Impact missionaries have handed off key leadership and planning to the urban leaders who have attended. This is our ultimate desire in all we do, to empower urban leaders to empower each other.
At these retreats, the Holy Spirit moves in mighty ways! Men and women come to know Christ as their Savior, many respond to the call of ministry, and many rededicate their lives to the Lord. All are prayed for and leave equipped to fight the battle and advance God’s Kingdom in their cities.
