Walking Field Trip

I love to read the story My Teacher Sleeps at School with my LACS kindergarten students every year. At the end I usually ask them whether or not they think that I sleep at school, and there are always 2 or 3 who think that I do. I am lucky enough to live on the same street as the school, so I started the tradition of taking a walking field trip down to my apartment. The students are always amazed to see where I cook my dinners, where I watch movies, where I brush my teeth, and even where I sleep. At the end of the tour, we all sit down and share a batch of brownies together (the teacher in the book bakes them a cake)! They usually wonder how soon they can come back to my apartment. It's a special time to give them a better look into how I live life. This picture was taken on our way out of the school gate as we walked to the apartments.
