We cannot do it alone! Planting churches among the urban poor is one of the toughest mission fields, a task certainly beyond World Impact. We depend upon like-minded churches, ministries and organizations to work with us. Below are some of our success stories. If you know of a church or Christian organization currently working in the city and whose combined efforts with World Impact would be fruitful, please contact us.
Current World Impact Partners
World Impact and Prison Fellowship partner to train prisoners to become pastors. Satellite campuses of The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI), a ministry of World Impact, are being established in prisons across the nation. The Capstone Curriculum, a 16-module, seminary-level training program, is used to educate and train incarcerated men to be church leaders, both inside and outside prison walls. Those who leave prison as TUMI graduates are equipped to join us in planting churches among the urban poor.
Evangelical Free Church of America
The EFCA aggressively plants churches in the United States, but many of their church-planting pastors do not have the educational background for traditional seminary training. Yet, God's call remains on their lives. The EFCA uses TUMI's Capstone Curriculum to equip church leaders to prepare for licensing and ordination within the denomination.
Joni and Friends
For decades, Joni and Friends International Disability Center has enthusiastically served people and families affected by disability in every corner of the globe. Inspired by Jesus' words, "When you give a banquet, invite…the lame, the blind and you will be blessed…Make them come in, so that my house will be full" (Luke 14:13-14, 23), Joni and Friends partners with World Impact to host Urban Family Retreats at The Oaks. Families from communities where we have church plants are recruited to attend this creative, jam-packed, five-day event. For parents and family members bearing the weight of the daily pressures of disability, this unique retreat offers fully-accessible activities and accommodations, warm and friendly relationships, and empowering truth from God's Word. This is a chance for the entire family to relax, be loved upon by volunteers from churches and encouraged when they return home with a newfound joy to continue on in His strength.
