World Impact has maintained a presence in Wichita since 1972, when Al Ewert (current Mid-West Vice President) moved onto North Estelle Street, the home of current Director, Daren Busenitz. Known as "The Air Capital of the World," Wichita has multiple pockets of poverty throughout the city. Through our church-planting efforts in the name of Christ the Victor, we trust the Lord for indigenous leadership that will plant more churches. We also train leaders in our TUMI satellite and resource our church plants through our mobile-medical and thrift-store ministries.
In 2008, we launched the Christ the Victor church-planting movement as a single church pursuing a powerful identity as victors in Christ and an ambitious mission to reproduce healthy churches. We have since launched two Spanish-speaking churches and are preparing to launch a second English congregation. We recently established the Urban Church Association to support and resource our church plants and other urban churches with a similar mission.
We operate a mobile medical coach that serves to strengthen our church-planting efforts by providing free medical care in Christ's name through volunteer doctors and nurses. In 1987, a dedicated group of physicians and dentists volunteered to help us launch the Good Samaritan Clinic which is now operated through our partnership with GraceMed to provide quality health and dental care to our urban neighbors.
World Impact Thrift Store (WITS) is committed to showing and sharing the love of Jesus Christ by providing quality and affordable merchandise to their friends and neighbors in the city. They also provide part-time job training through a partnership with a work-release program through the local prison system. Funds generated through WITS help support the mision of World Impact Midwest.
Christ the Victor Leadership School (CTVLS) – TUMI Satellite
CTVLS, a satellite campus of The Urban Ministry Institute, is dedicated to facilitating church-planting movements by training leaders for our Christ the Victor Churches as well as other urban churches in our area. We believe that God is moving in our city and preparing men and women to be powerful leaders in our urban churches. We desire to be used as an instrument for equipping and training urban leaders as they carry the mantle of leadership in shepherding God's flock and advancing God's kingdom in the city.
Located only 60 miles north of Wichita, World Impact's Morning Star Ranch is an inviting place to get out of the city. This is a great resource for our church plants to utilize this peaceful and beautiful setting for family camps, kid's camps and men's and women's retreats.
