6 Ways Trauma Healing Workshops Will Benefit Your Ministry

A trauma healing workshop will benefit ministries by offering a proven resource for church leaders with Biblically-based mental health principles.

Everywhere we see suffering, what is unseen are deep, deep wounds. Whether the trauma experienced was from decades ago or today, the wounds it creates become a barrier to hearing the gospel.

That’s why World Impact equips churches, ministry networks, and denominations with the mental health and biblical resources needed to lead others to receive healing and freedom from trauma through our Trauma Healing Workshops.

Why Trauma Healing?

Trauma can create a barrier to people engaging with Scripture. When hearts are hardened by anger and bitterness, the seed falls on hard ground and does not take root.

Traumatized individuals want answers to questions like, “If God is real, why does He allow suffering?” These perspectives make it difficult to see God’s offering of grace and peace. Many people need to sort through the trauma they’ve experienced to receive that offering.

The assistant pastor of Pentecostal Hi-way Tabernacle, Nera Maaser, was incredibly blessed when these difficult topics were addressed in her church’s Trauma Healing Workshop. With the prevalence of trauma, questions like why suffering exists are common, and it’s a blessing to know which scriptures to turn to and how to listen and respond lovingly.

Ultimately, trauma healing helps us to fulfill the gospel of Jesus Christ, setting the captives free. This verse is an encouragement and reminder of our work.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor

and the day of vengeance of our God,

to comfort all who mourn,

and provide for those who grieve in Zion—

to bestow on them a crown of beauty

    instead of ashes,

the oil of joy

    instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise

instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness,

    a planting of the Lord

for the display of his splendor.

They will rebuild the ancient ruins

    and restore the places long devastated;

they will renew the ruined cities

that have been devastated for generations.

We are set free by allowing God to repair the damage we’ve endured and thank Him for the crown of beauty that replaces the ashes.

We are honored to provide a route to freedom for those who have been held captive by their trauma.

Trauma Healing Workshops

Who attends the trauma healing workshops?

The workshops are made for ministry leaders who live in community with and lead individuals in need of trauma healing. Students start by engaging in personal healing, learning basic mental health skills, and experiencing participatory learning.

Soon after, they learn from an apprentice and practice facilitating groups while continuing their personal trauma healing.

By the end, the Trauma Healing Workshop graduates can lead groups of their own, and even get certified to train other trainers.

Can you see ways that trauma healing can help your church more effectively spread the gospel?
