Urban Leaders

Learn more about what we do and how we can work together to help serve your community.

Seminary

The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) provides seminary-level training for leaders in the urban context. TUMI enables urban churches and ministries to provide emerging leaders with affordable, effective resources for leadership development, church renewal, spiritual formation and pioneer mission. Each of our local ministry sites hosts a TUMI Satellite to provide training for community leaders. World Impact also partners with denominations, ministries, churches and schools to facilitate TUMI satellites to train their leaders. We also offer many satellite locations in prisons and jails. Church Planting

World Impact’s Evangel School of Urban Church Planting trains, equips, encourages, and enables Christian workers to plant healthy, reproducing churches among the urban poor. This training is designed specifically to equip teams to reach under-resourced communities. Through Evangel Schools, you will receive coaching by seasoned urban church planters who assist church plant teams in developing a plan for church structure, services, outreaches, finances, discipleship and leadership development. Prison Ministry

We believe that many of the men and women who will lead the urban Church are currently incarcerated. There are amazing leaders who are redeemed and called, serving time behind bars. World Impact partners with reentry homes, local churches and mentors to move these leaders toward success and incorporation into a caring body of believers through our ministry initiative, Incarceration to Incorporation (I2I). Our partner ministries like Prison Fellowship make it possible for us to identify prisoners with pastoral and leadership potential, provide them with resources, locate housing upon release and connect them with a local church. Email cgibson@worldimpact.org to get involved.

Pastor Fellowship

Urban Church Associations (UCA) have three objectives. Through fellowship, we hope to encourage, inspire, and strengthen pastors in vital Christian discipleship. We also hope pastors will pool their gifts, knowledge, and strengths for kingdom-minded work. Lastly, each association is designed to encourage pastors to work together to transform their communities. Email cgibson@worldimpact.org to see if there is a UCA in your area or to learn how to start one.

Conferences

World Impact believes in resourcing urban leaders. One way we do this is through concise, practical and hands-on training at conferences and encouragement through retreats. Annually, each World Impact region hosts retreats for urban men and women. These often anticipated retreats are typically offered in both Spanish and English. The men’s retreats are a time for urban men to gather, seek the Lord, be encouraged and convicted. The women’s retreats offer time away from the busyness of life, with powerful teaching and the forging of friendships. Click here to find a retreat near you.
