Glass February Prayer Letter

Dear Praying Partners,

Thank you so much for continuing to faithfully support me and to pray for the Lord's work here in Newark! I appreciated hearing from some of you over Christmas letting me know you are praying. Prayer is so vital to ministry and I keep becoming more aware of this as the years go by!

My co-worker, Ruth, and I continue to teach the evangelism class (Kids' EE) at Newark Christian School. As usual, we started out the school year with the fourth grade class. We always begin the class by asking the students to answer two questions on a white card:

1. Do you know for sure that you will be with God in Heaven someday?

2. If God were to ask you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?” what would you say?

Then we have the students answer the same two questions at the end of the twelve weeks.

Four of the twelve students went from saying “not sure” to the first question in September to saying “yes” to that question in December. We also saw a number of them respond to the second question in September with answers like, “Because I will try to be good and nice and help the poor,” and then in December with, “Because I believe in Jesus Christ alone and what He has done on the cross.”

We emphasize throughout the class that there is no way we can earn our salvation by being good because of the sin problem we all have and because of God's standard of perfection. We then try to help them understand that salvation is by God's grace alone through what Jesus accomplished for us through His life, death and resurrection. It seems simple enough but we have an enemy who doesn't want anyone to understand this. That is why prayer and your prayers are so important! It is only the Lord who can bring home to the heart this understanding and this ability to put one's complete trust in Jesus.

Please pray as we are now teaching the 5th graders and in the spring will be teaching the 6th graders. Pray for God to bring clear understanding. Pray also that these students will develop a desire to share the good news about Jesus with others.

It is truly a joy to know you are praying!

In Jesus' precious love,

Lois Glass
