Miss Pearl

As we empower urban leaders and partner with local churches to reach their cities with the gospel, The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) remains an excellent resource for developing urban leaders. I am blessed to work closely with students and facilitators at TUMI of Dallas. Although TUMI students are often those serving or seeking to serve as pastors of urban churches, most of the students in Dallas, are not pastors. I want to introduce you to a dear sister in Christ.

I met Miss Pearl several years ago. Her son was a TUMI student, and he invited her to attend a class. After visiting a couple of times, she jumped in with head and heart and became a certificate-seeking student at TUMI Dallas.

Although Miss Pearl is a leader in her own right at church, she considers her main ministry to “the babies” on her bus route. She drives a bus for a local school district. It is a thrill to hear stories about her ministry. Every week she comes to class with a story of how TUMI is helping her to minister to the children. Recently, one of her students referred to her as a mentor. The surprise, humility, and joy on her face as she shared this was priceless. It’s one of the things that keeps me motivated to train leaders.

We are so proud to be in Miss Pearl’s company. She embodies faith in Christ and true empowerment. Even as I write, she is nearing completion of her studies and is set to graduate in December 2019.

Would you join us in praying for her and all our TUMI students as they continue their studies and ministry to those in their circle of influence?

I am overwhelmed by your prayerful and financial support, which allows me to serve and develop urban leaders. Know that as you pray for me, I am praying for you. May the Lord continue to grant us all the grace and strength needed to do all He puts before us.
