Peters February Prayer Letter

Dear Family & Friends,

Happy New Year! We want to start this new year and new decade by sending a HUGE thank you for all of your prayers and financial support. Some of you have been supporting us since the beginning which has been many decades, and some just a few months. But we appreciate each of you and are thankful for your partnership with us and the Lord’s ministry here in the city.

This past year my wife Cynthia and I were both involved in our annual men's and women’s ministry retreats. The men’s retreat was the last weekend of September with almost 200 men attending representing over 20 different churches and ministries. Over the years the majority of the men are either African American or Hispanic, and this year we were excited to have a large group attend from a local Filipino church.

One attendee said: “This was my first time attending this retreat and I wasn't going to come because I didn't know what it would be like. After experiencing this weekend with godly men from all over the state I am convinced that God wanted me here to see this. I love the diversity with both English and Spanish men coming together for worship and fellowship. I haven't seen anything like this in the city. I can't wait until next year and I will be bringing more men with me.”

The women’s retreat was the last weekend of October with roughly 120 in attendance representing several churches and ministries along the west coast. Women engaged in the powerful message of “Stronger Together: The Promise, The Path, and The Power of the Holy Spirit.”

An attendee said: “When I heard the testimonies of the speakers, I realized I’m not the only one in my brokenness. Jesus can heal when I allow the deep secrets and pains of my life be released to Him and to others who care. He promised me redemption. He promised me pathway of righteousness. This is such a beautiful and powerful retreat. And to think I almost wasn’t going to come. I encountered the Holy Spirit in community in a way I would never have before. And the dual language work was awesome. We need more of this. I feel so love, inspired and empowered.”

Thank you for investing in our urban apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers (Eph. 4:11). Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our sisters and brothers in Christ! We are “Stronger Together” in God’s Spirit (Acts 2)! Thank you for continuing to partner with us in 2020!
