Refugees Find Jesus

Last month we had the blessing of hosting the Arboleda family who are originally from Colombia. They came to our church Iglesia Del Maestro when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in August 2005. As refugees looking for shelter and a new place to settle down, they found a home in Dallas and said, “We found Jesus too.”

This family became members of Iglesia Del Maestro for almost four years after accepting the Lord Jesus as their Savior and they were baptized soon after. Carlos and Darling and their two children moved back to New Orleans. Since learning and serving the Lord has helped them remain involved in the ministry of evangelism, Carlos and I had explored the opportunity for him to start taking TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) classes. We have talked of us establishing a TUMI Satellite in his church.

I invited Carlos to bring the message to our church congregation. Praise God he did, and we all were very encouraged and blessed to hear him preach of the glory of God. We ask for continued prayer for the Arboleda family, for God’s faithfulness and love for them and to provide the opportunity to continue to learn more of His truths and receive training in sharing the Gospel of salvation.

Sol and I continue bringing the Word of God every Saturday morning at the First Baptist Church in Vickery to our Spanish community. For the last few months we have been experiencing a very low attendance of the faithful families in Christ. Many of the families feel they are being persecuted due to their immigration status. They fear for the future of their children born in the USA and some of these dear families are moving from place to place looking for ways to earn a living. We ask for your prayers for this challenging situation our families in Christ are facing day to day, knowing that they might be deported to their country of origin. Please continue praying for Sol and me that we can continue to encourage them to trust in our Lord and His mercies to open the way for new immigration laws.

Iglesia Del Maestro continues to grow, praise God. The leaders are ready to step up and take more responsibilities, so I can continue sharing TUMI as our Lord opens opportunities in different countries.
