You Are Making a Difference

Thank you for making a difference!

Your gifts and prayers are helping share the hope of the Gospel and transforming broken and hurting communities, and I can’t thank you enough.

I’m excited to share this story of how your gift helped David. A former prisoner, David found Christ while in prison. Today he pastors a church and leads a ministry to help other fellow prisoners reenter society.

David started selling drugs in the 9th grade. He was hanging with the wrong crowd and his lifestyle was filled with “chaos, confusion, negativity, and drama.”

The turning point came when David got arrested for the first time and had to go to jail. His father, who had recently accepted Jesus, prayed for David and shared the Gospel with him before he went to prison.

“After the third day in jail, I got on my knees. I started to pray, ‘Lord, forgive me. I’m sorry for my disobedience and rebellion,” said David.

David started connecting with other men in prison who were believers and upon release, David got involved in a local church, where he was able to meet with the families of Christian men he met while in prison.

This ignited David’s desire to serve those being released from prison and reentering society. He was called to be the pastor of outreach at Greater New Beginnings Church in Louisville’s California neighborhood. The church purchased a small shotgun house which has been set apart as a reentry home for returning citizens.

David used World Impact’s Trauma Healing training to process reentry with these men, while providing them accountability and community. Because of your generosity, we are able to partner with leaders like David as they extend the love of Christ to the toughest communities.

This amazing story was made possible thanks to your kind and compassionate support!
