Your Support Changed Lives During Covid

Can you believe it’s been a year since our world was turned upside down? Much of the world continues to live marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, yet our God is at work growing men and women to display His faithfulness to communities who need the Gospel. As we celebrate World Impact’s 50th year of serving urban leaders and churches in communities of poverty, we can’t help but marvel at God’s faithfulness.

The Lord’s faithfulness is clearly displayed in the lives of believers like Ivan. In the early stages of COVID-19, when many restaurants and businesses were closing, Ivan lost his job in the restaurant industry. This news was difficult for Ivan because he was concerned with providing for his family of five. But our faithful God uses all things for His glory.

With Ivan’s newfound time at home, the Lord helped him develop healthier relationships with his wife and children. And yet, he had nowhere to turn to find a way to provide for his family. His church, a World Impact partner, displayed God’s faithfulness by giving him groceries, rent funds, and other tangible support, but more importantly he was discipled to understand the power of prayer. As Ivan prayed, God used him to minister in his church and community.

Inspired by the love and support he received from his church, Ivan met a gentleman in the hospital whose leg was amputated. Ivan helped him transition out of the hospital by finding funds for rent, building an accessible ramp, and buying groceries. This kingdom-minded service gave Ivan the opportunity to lead this man to Jesus! God is faithful to call people to himself and to equip his servants.

As Ivan’s pastor David shared, “We have seen God move in mighty ways. Sometimes we think that if we had more financial resources we could do more. But we serve the Lord now and He will be faithful.”

Thanks to your support, urban leaders like Ivan are empowered to minister to their neighbors. Ivan is now joining his church in accessing World Impact’s Church-Based Seminary (TUMI) so he can continue to grow in his Christian leadership. His only regret is that he doesn’t have more time for ministry!

Will you partner with me to equip servants like Ivan to reach their communities for Christ? A gift of $140 will provide one leader with seminary-level theology and leadership training in communities of poverty through World Impact U’s online church-based seminary. Join us to ensure more leaders like Ivan are empowered and trained to redeem their cities.
