Welcome to the Evangel School of Urban Church Planting

The church planting program of World Impact (Evangel) exists to support your movement, ministry network, denomination, or church as you develop a sound, reproducible strategy to plant healthy churches in communities experiencing poverty. 

Since 2016, World Impact has equipped more than 700 church plant teams like yours to create a strategy for each unique ministry context in the United States and around the world. 

The Evangel School of Urban Church Planting is designed for you and your church plant team.

At an Evangel School, your church plant team will develop a contextualized model, strategy, and create a 12-month plan toward planting a church.

Evangel is a principle-based strategy for church planting which can be applied to multiply contexts of planting, re-planting, seasons of transition, and other applications. This has been proven through the years as we have coached teams like yours to develop a strategy for each unique context.

The Evangel School of Urban Church Planting is designed to equip church plant teams who are planting a new church, those who are preparing to re-plant (restart, revitalize, or relaunch) an existing church, those who are seeking a process for transitioning to next generation of pastoral leadership, and those seeking to catalyze a church planting movement using World Impact’s principle-based P.L.A.N.T strategy for planting churches.

The Evangel School utilizes the Church P.L.A.N.T. Manual which will direct your church plant team to understand the principles of church planting, turn principles into actionable goals during guided sessions, and develop a one-year strategic plan.

In addition to the training and materials, your church plant team will be led by an Evangel Coach during the school as you complete team exercises and discern your unique path with your team.

When your church plant team completes the school and charters with World Impact, you will be provided an Evangel Field Coach who will walk with your team for twelve months after the school as you seek to P.L.A.N.T the church God has birthed in your hearts for His glory.

Summary

  • Your team will be equipped with principles for church planting through seminars.
  • Your team will work together with an Evangel Coach to complete team exercises.
  • Your team will create a one-year strategy to P.L.A.N.T a church.
  • Your team will complete an Evangel Charter (strategic plan).
  • Evangel will commission your chartered team.  
  • Your chartered team will receive additional coaching for one year.

Benefits for Your Church Plant Team

  • A twelve-month strategic plan toward planting your church.
  • An Evangel Field Coach that will walk with your team for one year after the school.
  • Your church will be part of the Evangel Network, a fellowship of like-minded church planters.
  • Your church will be an approved World Impact partner with the ability to host other applicable World Impact programs.

Cost:

  • $300 per team (at least two people)
  • This covers the registration fee, meals, and resources for your church plant team.
  • Teams are responsible for travel and lodging costs.

Application Steps:

  1. Form your church plant team (3-5 people)
  2. Team leader applies to attend an Evangel School
  1. Team leader completes the assessment process:
    • Team leader completes a self-evaluation.
    • Team leader’s spouse (if married) completes an evaluation of the leader.
    • Team leader’s pastor completes an evaluation and offers a reference.
    • Team leader completes an interview with the Dean of Church Plant Schools.
  2. If approved, the team leader will receive prerequisite assignments.
  3. Team leader will receive access to all World Impact’s church planting resources through the Church Plant Team Resource Dashboard.
  4. Team leader completes and submits prerequisite assignments. 
  5. Team leader will be invited to register their team (via Eventbrite)
    • Registration cost $300 per team (at least two people)

Are you an urban church planter? This important training is for you!

World Impact’s Evangel School of Urban Church Planting is committed to training, equipping, encouraging, and enabling Christian workers to plant healthy, reproducing churches among the urban poor. 

This training is designed specifically to equip teams to reach under-resourced communities. Through Evangel Schools, you will receive coaching by seasoned urban church planters who assist church plant teams in developing a plan for church structure, services, outreaches, finances, discipleship and leadership development.
