Personal Unashamed Experiences

From Wilma Lewis:

I have been to many women's retreats but they were nothing like the Unashamed retreat in the East Coast. This was one of the best retreats I have ever been to. I loved the “family style” breakfast, lunch and dinner; it was the best way to communicate with each other. Several women left encouraged and God used one another to reveal, mentor, and bond. The team building activities were coordinated that it flowed with the holy spirit.

One of the team building activities was the secrets group, which was led by two certified group counselors. We could write anonymous notes about sin or spiritual bondage and ask for advice from our sisters. We also had the option to own up to our notes; one of the sisters came forward and she was delivered from that bondage and the holy spirit led us to pray for her and her family. As a whole, everyone including myself had a great time, we left with the joy of the lord. Tiffany Wilks did a great job with asking the speakers who all had a different view on the topic unashamed and it brought the whole weekend together.

From Maria Alvarez:

The Unashamed Retreat was my first retreat experience. I was very excited in anticipation of what would take place. Even though I did not know many of the women there personally, I felt welcomed immediately by all. It was a very friendly environment. Over the weekend, I met several new people and developed healthy friendships, which was very much needed for me in my life right now. It was my first time being surrounded by so many positive and Godly women.

As I heard others share their stories and tell their testimonies, I was motivated to share my own, and for the first time able to share it without being afraid or embarrassed. I learned during our secret group times that we all have a story and many of them are the same. We only need to be brave enough to open up and share with one another. I felt much stronger in the Lord and experienced a cleansing and healing both in my spirit and body.

My ultimate takeaway was that I do not have to wait for a retreat to experience a personal encounter with God in my own life. However, we do need retreats like these to be refreshed and revived in the presence of other women who share the same experience and desire and our own.
