Nearer to Salvation

World Impact's Mobile Medical truck visits Lighthouse Community Church in South Wichita once a week to offer free health clinics and times of prayer. We've seen people come to Christ in the past, but lately I have not had the pleasure of praying the prayer of salvation with anyone in clinic over the last year.

At first I thought I was doing something wrong or we were just in a dry spell. But then I noticed something. There is a young man who comes to see the doctor fairly regularly. He has always been quite hostile about God. He would get angry if we asked to pray for him and sometimes would go on a long tirade about religion. He has a very twisted worldview.

But the last few times I've seen him, he has been quite civil and has been more gentle when he says no to prayer. I haven't heard any negative religious talk from him for over a month now. And that made me realize that while the fruit of this work isn't always tangible, God is using it to do wonders in people's hearts. I will keep praying for this young man, trusting the Lord to bring him nearer to salvation each day. Maybe that isn't as exciting as 10 people getting saved every week, but to me it's priceless. I would do it all over if just for that one young man to know the Lord.
