Til We Meet Again

My wife Tayna and I were blessed to spend some time down in south Texas at Rio Grande Bible College (RGBC) with my folks, and what a blessing and time of reflection. The day before we left I had a young homeless man we caught shoplifting, so I took him to the side and explained to him the consequences of his actions and he begged me not to call the police. That was not my plan at all. He put everything back where he found it and then came in the back door to apologize to me. I accepted his apology and then he asked if he could do anything for me for some food. We gave him some food and then he wanted to sweep the parking lot. He had no money, clothes, or food.

I decided to give him a little money for what he did, which was a fantastic job. I told the cashier before I gave him the money I wanted to pray with him. We went to the prayer room and the first question I asked him was, if he were to die today would he go to Heaven or Hell. His response was, “I hope I will go to heaven.” I asked him if he wanted to be sure he would go to heaven, and he told me yes, he did. He prayed the sinner’s prayer and his face told me he had accepted Christ and was sure he would go to heaven. He wanted to see me again in the next week but we were headed south, but I told him even if we never saw each other on earth we would meet again in Heaven, he just grinned from ear to ear. What a way to start our trip to RGBC.

Our time at RGBC was more than what we expected. We attended two Bible conferences which were fabulous. We learned so much about us but also about the messages taught right out of the Word of God. The main thing I came away with was to be a “finisher,” of the Great Commission. It just affirmed to us of our work here at the World Impact Thrift Store and our calling to the work. We are on the front lines of fulfilling the Great Commission and are are honored to do it for the Kingdom of God. Tayna and I did lots of volunteer work while on the campus and I was able to talk to the volunteer coordinator and learned so much from him on working with volunteers and staff all at the same time. We also were able to go out the Roma radio tower site and help in the dedication of the tower back to the Lord. Radio Esperanza is now able to broadcast deep into Mexico reaching thousands with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The hymn I meditated on this month—God be with you Till We Meet Again—was sung at the end of one of the Bible conferences and it just touches our hearts so much, especially with the young man who accepted Christ.
