TUMI Student Les

In Dallas, there is a thriving community of urban leaders being trained through The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI). One of those students is Les. Les is the director of worship arts ministry at West Dallas Community Church in Dallas, Texas. He also teaches the discipleship classes. He and his wife have served at Dallas Community for the past eighteen years.

We asked Les to share about his ministry and how TUMI has developed his leadership:

“I am excited about the different ministry opportunities coming through TUMI. But I will continue to work in the Music and Worship Arts Ministry, and Discipleship/Education Ministry. Our Pastor, Arrvel Wilson, teaches that your gift will make room for your ministry. God has provided gifts through the Music Ministry for me to teach and disciple others. So, God's Spirit is leading me to explore helping new Church Plants with Music Ministry and Discipleship, to become an Urban Missionary, and to even assist in teaching or preaching. I want to help encourage new and young pastors with their church plants.

“TUMI has deepened my intimacy with Christ, working through valley and mountain-top experiences. It has helped me to be more grounded in the fundamentals of faith. Spiritually, I have grown- rightly dividing God's Word. With political and global issues today, ‘Telling God's Story’ is urgent and a priority. It has also helped me to remain steadfast while engaging in spiritual warfare, and learning to abide in Christ while under satanic attack.

“As men of God, it is very important that we represent Christ in excellence, humility, and purity. It is crucial that we represent Christ at home, at church, and in the vineyards, and marketplace. I graduate from TUMI Dallas this December, and I look forward to serving and being used by God to edify the Body of Christ and disciple other believers to become laborers together in fulfilling the great Commission.”
